June 1928. Cornerstone laying ceremony for the Dayton Art Institute
Mrs. Julia Shaw Patterson Carnell donated ,000,000 to purchase land and to construct the Art Institute. She also gave most of the original art works.

Another participants present were Orville and Wilber Wright and Charles Kettering.
Her first husband was Frank Patterson, co founder of National Cash Register Company
